Health department issues regulations for managing public hospitals

The DoH has gazetted its regulations for the management of public hospitals in Government Gazette Number 35101 on 2 March 2012. The regulations provide a definition of district, regional, tertiary, central and specialised hospitals and information about the kinds of services that each must provide and the staff that must be employed to provide the relevant services.

In addition, the regulations provide that all public hospitals must be managed in accordance with national policy, which will be gazetted and make provision for: management structures, post levels and salary scales; the delegation of functions; lists of health establishments; and hospital boards.
